 Lecture 1: The physical state of matter    

Lecture 2:  Measurement of gas pressure, barometer and manometer

Lecture 3:   The gas laws: Boyle’s Law, Charles’ Law, equation of state, and partial pressures, ideal gas equation: PV=nRT 

Lecture 4: Derivation from Boyle’s and Charles’ la

Lecture 5: Kinetic theory of gases 

Lecture 6: Derivation of the fundamental kinetic theory equation from kinetic theory i.e PV=mnC2

               Part II  By Mr. Ibrahim Sunday

Lecture 1:   Distribution of molecular velocities

Lecture 2: Derivation of gas laws from ideal gas equation 

Lecture 3: Determination of molecular mass of real gases,the nature of inter-molecular forces & deviations from ideal behaviour.

Lecture 4: The mean free path of gas molecules

Lecture 5 : The heat capacities of gases and equi-partition of energy

Course Goal:

To guide the students in learning the various concepts contained in the course contents and be able to solve problem related to the concepts with at least 95% proficiency.

Course Delivery Strategy

The course delivery system is composed of both theoretical and practice-based teaching.

·        In class lectures and online supplement will be the major methods of course delivery for theoretical aspects.

·        For practice-based teaching, students will be assigned into groups(5-10 in a group) with members of the group making a presentations of  about 10 minutes each(including presentation and feedback time).
